Free and reduced parking lot rates begin July 1

Employees identified parking costs as a key concern in the recent Employee Experience Survey. Feedback also highlighted the importance of greater consistency in parking costs across locations.

Yes. Employees must continue to maintain a parking permit and current vehicle registration. Vehicle registration helps Transportation and Logistics manage parking supply, demand, and safety across campus. To reduce administrative burden, free parking permits will now require renewal every five years instead of annually.

The following employee parking areas will move to free permit-required parking:

• Zone 3 North and South
• Lot 1 – Crittenden
• Lot 9 – Kendrick South
• Lot 11 – Crittenden Evening
• All off-site employee parking lots (see maps)

Yes. Reduced permit rates will apply to select midrange parking options:

• Lot 2 – Lattimore: reduced from $919 to $519
• Lot 12 – Crittenden: reduced from $919 to $519
• Zone 2 North/South: reduced from $502 to $302

No. The majority of employees who park in permit-required lots will see a reduction or elimination of parking costs. Rates for specified close-in lots and all garages will remain the same.

Employees who park in the East End Garage already receive a University-subsidized parking rate, and rates will not increase in FY 2027.

The new parking rates and no-charge parking changes will take effect on July 1, 2026, with the start of the new fiscal year. Employees who have already received parking renewal information do not need to take any additional action. Updated rates and any applicable changes will be applied automatically and reflected in the first full pay period in July.

No. Any changes to parking payroll deductions or permit pricing will be applied automatically. Employees do not need to submit forms or take additional action for the new rates to take effect.

There will not be a formal change period. Parking lot changes will be paused for six months following the July 1, 2026 program start date. Employees may request to switch lots beginning on January 4, 2027. Given existing parking capacity constraints, we must continue to manage the high demand and inventory of lots.

Parking assignments are based on a variety of operational and space availability factors, including lot capacity, permit demand, proximity, and the need to balance access across the Medical Center and River Campus. Transportation and Logistics manages parking assignments to make the most effective and fair use of available parking resources.

Yes, most lots have active waitlists that you may join through the Parking website. Beginning January 4, 2027, employees may switch to any lot that does not have a waitlist.

Yes. While these changes improve affordability, parking demand may still be higher in some locations and times of day. We will continue to manage limited space as responsibly and fairly as possible.

Parking needs and employee feedback will continue to be evaluated. This program represents a significant step forward, and adjustments may occur as campus needs, demand, and available resources evolve.

No. This program applies only to employees. Student transportation and parking remain the same.

No. These locations are designated residential parking areas. Residents must still purchase a residential parking permit and register their vehicle in accordance with existing residential parking policies.
