Mailboxes and addressing mail

All students living on campus are assigned a mailbox. New students receive a welcome letter with their mailbox assignment approximately three to four weeks before the start of the semester.

Your mailing address remains the same for the duration of your time at the University.

Mailing address format

Mail and packages should be addressed using the format below:

Student Name
CMC Box #27XXXX
500 Joseph C. Wilson Boulevard
Rochester, NY 14627

Note: XXXX is the last four numbers of the student’s mailbox.

There is no direct delivery to student dorms.

Shipping

To ensure packages mailed to campus are processed and ready for student arrival, please follow these shipping timeframes:

Shipping timeframes

Shipping tips during move in

Purchase locally

Buy convenience items in Rochester rather than shipping them.

Prioritize essentials

Delay ordering non-critical items until after move-in.

Care packages

Wait until after the second week of the semester to send.

Pickup mail & packages

Letters

Letter-size mail is placed in students’ mailboxes.

Packages

Packages are available for pickup after the student receives an email notification from the Campus Mail Center package store.

  • A current University ID is required for pickup.
  • A limited number of hand carts are available to transport large items from the Campus Mail Center to your residence hall.
  • A $50 Rocky Bucks deposit is required to use a hand cart.
Delivery notifications

Delivery notifications from carriers or retailers (such as Amazon)
do not mean your package is ready for pickup. Carriers deliver packages to the University, and each package must be processed by the Campus Mail Center before it becomes available for pick up.

Package lockers

Located on the front and west walls of the Campus Mail Center, package lockers allow students to pick up their packages without waiting in line at the regular package window. The lockers are available for students to pick up their packages any time Todd Union is open, not just during CMC business hours.

Automated lockers provide 24/7 access to your packages:

  • Notification:
If a package is placed in a locker, the notification email will include a unique, 6-digit access code.
  • Pickup:
Scan your code or enter it at the locker kiosk to retrieve your package.
  • Time Limit:
Packages remain in lockers for up to 48 hours before being moved to the regular pickup window, where they can be retrieved during normal business hours for up to 21 days.
