Frequently asked questions

Get answers to common questions about parking waitlists, including how to join, check your status, and respond to an offer.

What is a parking waitlist?

When no permits are available for a parking lot, a waitlist is used to reassign spaces as they become available.

How do I join a waitlist?

To place your name on a waitlist:

  1. Log in to My Parking Online
  2. Scroll to the Permits section.
  3. Select Add/Edit Waitlists to view lots with available waitlists.
  4. Select Add to join a waitlist. Your position on the list will be displayed immediately.
  5. Once on a waitlist, you can view your position, sign-up date, and the total number of people on the list. You may review your waitlist status at any time by returning to My Parking Online.
How do I remove myself from a waitlist?
  1. Log in to My Parking Online
  2. Scroll to the Permits section
  3. Select Add/Edit Waitlists to view lots with available waitlists.
  4. Scroll to Your Current Save Waitlist Selections and select Delete next to the corresponding waitlist. Please note: if you remove your name from a waitlist, you will lose your position. If you rejoin, you will be added to the bottom of the list.
How will I be notified of a waitlist offer?

When a space becomes available, a time-sensitive offer will be sent to the primary email address associated with your parking account. This may be a University email address or a personal email address, such as Gmail. The message will include instructions to accept or decline the offer.

To avoid missing an offer, make sure the email address in your parking account is current and check your spam or junk folder.

If you accept the offer, log in to My Parking Online and purchase the permit by the expiration date listed in the award notice

What if I don’t respond by the expiration date on the award notice?

If you do not respond by the date listed, you will be removed from the waitlist and will no longer be eligible to purchase that permit. The space will be offered to the next person on the list. You may rejoin the waitlist, but you will lose your previous position.

How do I know if I’m still on a waitlist?

You will remain on a waitlist until you:

  • are offered the lot
  • remove yourself from the waitlist
  • ask the Parking office to remove you from the waitlist, or
  • leave the University
