Building automation system accounts

In addition to managing the University’s Building Automation Systems (BAS), Energy Services is also responsible for managing URs building data analytic platforms, which extend the BAS and similar data systems to provide much more detailed analytics about how the building and equipment is operating.

The eSight Energy Management Information System (EMIS) was installed as Phase I of building analytics, which analyzes information primarily at the building level. Phase II will look at platforms, which can perform detailed analysis inside the building at the equipment level.

EMIS:

• Ensures the building is using the appropriate amount of energy.
• Provides a means of measurement and verification for energy conservation projects.
• Monitors the HVAC equipment for sub-optimal operation based on comparing actual equipment operation to an ideal modeling.
• Fault Detection and Diagnostics – Detects equipment faults that do not show up routine BAS alarms.

Everyone who has a legitimate business or academic need can have a personal account in the Energy Management Information System (EMIS). Before you request an account however, please look at the public portals (links below) and see if they satisfy your needs.

If you have a onetime or short-term request for energy data, it may be simpler to request the data instead of setting up an account.
