How to gain access to or request a tour of the Central Utilities plant.
Central Utilities plant
Our central plant produces chilled water, electric power, steam and hot water on a continuous basis. It houses five steam boilers and four steam driven chillers. We have 25 megawatts of cogeneration capacity using two steam turbine generators. The central plant has been in operation since the 1920’s.

Visiting
Central Utilities does not accept unexpected visitors or solicitations. Before you visit the Central Utilities Plant, you must have an employee sponsor. You are required to sign our log and follow all directions upon arrival.
Tours
We are happy to provide tours of the plant to groups of six to 12 people. Tours last about one hour and are available weekdays between 8:00am and 3:00pm by appointment only.
Contact the Energy Services director to make arrangements. Note that to tour the plant you must be able to walk, climb stairs and follow English verbal directions.
Parking
We only have three visitor parking spaces available at the Central Utility Plant, and these spaces are occupied for a large percentage of the time. Expected visitors may park in these spaces if available.
After parking, obtain a temporary parking permit from the office assistant in the plant office and place it in your windshield. Return the pass before leaving.
