Our team
Through visible campus presence, emergency response, and community partnership, our department maintains a secure environment for learning, research, healthcare, and campus life across all University locations.
As one of fewer than 100 campus safety agencies to earn accreditation from the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA), we uphold the highest standards in higher education public safety while providing a visible, reassuring presence that our community can trust and rely upon.
Public safety officers
These non-sworn officers perform essential campus functions, including building security, patrols, student safety escorts, lost property management, and special event security. These unarmed officers enhance campus safety through de-escalation support.
Peace officers
New York State-certified peace officers have sworn authority to make arrests and carry firearms, following comprehensive training and certification. These officers handle emergency response, active threat situations, emergency department security, and high-risk patient security needs.
Community engagement
Prioritizing a people-first approach to campus safety, this unit focuses on fostering relationships built on mutual trust and respect through transparency and collaboration.
